Through challenges of varying difficulty, players try to control their own behaviors and understand those of others.
Each player will go through three main phases:
- self-knowledge (emotional self-awareness, reading of body language)
- self-regulation (managing one’s emotions)
- self-motivation (staying motivated despite difficulties)
HOW: through teamwork, understanding of body language, imagination, creativity and comparison with others.
Emotional intelligence is very crucial since it gives the ability to identify, understand, and manage one’s emotions in positive ways to communicate effectively, show empathy towards others, and defuse conflict.
Like any skill, you can train and sharpen it.
It is defined by four attributes: self-awareness (to recognize your emotions and how they affect your thoughts and behaviors), self-management (to be able to control and adapt impulsive feelings and behaviors), social awareness (to understand others emotions and needs), relationship management (to develop good relationships, communicate clearly, inspire and influence others, work well in a team, and manage conflicts).
Being emotionally intelligent can affect the mental well-being positively, helps to be stronger internal motivators, increase self-confidence, and improve the ability to focus on a goal, to create better networks of support, and delay gratification.
